Pommes de terre.


Potato. Literally however, it means "apple of the earth". Intriguing, I know. Tonight, I made potatoes and carrots, so I was thinking about them and why they would name them after apples. I guess they have a similar texture, but otherwise I don't see the connection. Also, this is like a 3 for 1 day, because if you didn't notice, I gave you the words for "apple" and "earth".
