Being Monday, my Mom and I worked around my work schedule and tried to make the most of it. Since I didn't have to work until 4:30pm, we decided to take the train into Paris and walk around the Montmartre neighborhood. It was great to have the car for the drive to the station. Not because of the physical effort, but because instead of leaving 30 minutes early, you only need 10. I'm going to be spoiled by the car by the end of the week.
It was a fairly sunny day and Montmartre was fairly busy. We started at the basilica and walked up the steps to see the gardens and view. After my 3rd trip through the church, we continued through the neighborhood looking at the artwork at restaurants. We decided to follow our friend Rick's advice on where to eat and ended up at a little place down the hill. After our very French lunch, we kept walking until we found ourselves outside a Metro stop and decided that was a good stopping point.
We caught the train home and made it in time to take a little break before going to get the Kid. He's been in a good mood since she arrived, so I'm just waiting for the novelty to wear off. The night went fine, dinner of pasta and meat sauce is a pretty safe meal. After the Kid was down, we went to the next town for a glass of wine but only stayed for a bit before heading home again.
