Day 4: or The Day I Found Tortillas in France

I woke up early again, and by early, I mean normal time for the working group. Had some bread and jam and took the kid to the English school he attends twice a week. It was cold daddy cold this morning with a high of 31'. That is ludicrous. A high? And to top it all off there was a partial solar eclipse today. How cool would that have been to see? Really cool, but no. The clouds are like a grey ceiling where no light can sneak through. So with less sun than usual (and there isn't a lot to begin with), I decided today would be that day I walked around the town. And I do mean around. I walked until the town stopped and the fields began. And then I walked along the fields until I hit a road again. I'm not sure what sparked the crazy, but I guess I realized that tomorrow would be just as cold, so unless I wanted to wait until it was March, with its sweltering highs in the upper 40's, today was just as good as any.

Jeremy came home for lunch, then I walked him to French school. Did some laundry, really lived it up for an afternoon. Because of the imperfect first dinner, I started early with vegetables and rice and a carrot dish of some sort. Everything was tasty but the rice was of course too much. Then we rushed out the door to get my French cell phone. I feel so very official. Today was a long day. I'm not sure what was different, but I just felt like I couldn't catch up. The issue I'm having is that things all need to be done at once. During the day, I could do things, but I can't do the things I need to do without the kids. I might start cooking dinner before they even get home and reheat it. It may just come to that.

Oh ya, tortillas. At the supermarket, they have an international isle and they had a large "Old El Paso" section. With seasonings and taco shells, salsa, and of course, tortillas. Mexican dinner here I come.

  1. You already have me laughing! Love the blog and hearing about what you're up to. It does sound pretty cold, but I'm impressed that you're getting out and taking walks in that kind of weather.
